C. Patricia Meyers, of Indian River Estates in Vero Beach, formerly of Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart, passed away peacefully at the VNA Hospice House on May 28, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert A. Meyers, a society orchestra leader, and their two sons Richard Dennis Meyers and Robert Andrew Meyers.
A native of Long Island, N.Y., Meyers dedicated her life in service to others.
She served as president of the Board of Managers of the Nassau County Medical Center, East Meadow, Long Island, N.Y. where she was a trustee for 18 years. She was a Nassau County Republican committeewoman for 25 years. She served on numerous Boards, including the Nassau County Mental Health Board, the Syosset Public Library Board, the Syosset Cerebral Palsy Auxiliary, the Brookside Cerebral Palsy Auxiliary, United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island and The Community Advisory Board of Syosset Hospital.
She was a Paul Harris Fellow in the Syosset Rotary Club. She was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach and a former member of the Vero Beach chapter of the American Association of University Women. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Chapters of Vero Beach and Palm Beach, and the Indian River County Republican Executive Committee.
Meyers was the daughter of the late Daniel and Kathleen O’Rourke. She graduated from the Mary Louis Academy and she was a graduate of Adelphi University, Garden City, N.Y.
She was active at Indian River Estates West, where she made many new friends and continued friendships with others from Mariner Sands.
She will be buried in the Mariner Sands Chapel Memorial Garden in Stuart. There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc., PO Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064.
