Marion Clyde Morton McAdams, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 16, 2016, at the VNA Hospice House.
She is survived by her son, Hal Burch McAdams, Jr. (Martha); her brother James Otis Morton, Jr. (Becky); her sister Anne Morton; her daughter-in-law Susan Grover McAdams; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, cousins and loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son Stewart Wayne McAdams, Sr.; her grandson Stewart Wayne McAdams, Jr.; her mother Elsie Lee Poole Morton; and her father James Otis Morton.
McAdams was born in Raleigh, N.C., on July 6, 1930. Her family moved to Greenville, N.C. where she grew up in her family’s bakery business. Her family moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1947 where they owned and operated several motels.
She managed several of them over the years for her parents. She married her husband, Hal Burch McAdams, Sr. on Nov. 24, 1951. They moved to Vero Beach in 1998 and started Glendale Farms with their son Hal.
There will be a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach on Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following the ceremony till 2 p.m. The interment will be in North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach or to VNA Hospice of Indian River County in her memory.
