Ann “Sita” Blakeslee, 63, of Sebastian, passed away on March 9, after an unexpected battle with cancer.
Blakeslee was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 27, 1952, and grew up in Queens.
She had many loves including performing. After graduating from Long Island University, she went on to do children’s theatre. In her early 20’s she met her guru, Ma Jaya, and spent the rest of her life at Kashi Ashram in Sebastian.
Blakeslee was a highly successful salesperson at Macho Products, a teacher for many years at The River School, a substitute teacher at the Indian River Charter High School, and a House Manager at the Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach.
Another one of her loves was writing poetry, filled with love, devotion and insights of the heart. One of the brightest loves in her life was her daughter Jewel.
Blakeslee was a wonderful mother to Jewel, Mirashyam, Jaya Sati, Naga, Rudra and countless others she touched through teaching. She was married to Bill “Vajra” Blakeslee for 22 years, and she will always be by his side.
Her heart was forever filled with love, laughter, and compassion. She is remembered and missed by so many. We love you Sita.
A memorial service and celebration of Sita’s life will be held at Kashi Ashram on Saturday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Sita’s name to Kashi Ashram, 11155 Roseland Rd. Sebastian, FL 32958.
