Steven Craig Shackley Sr., 70, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 4, 2016, at Indian River Medical Center.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda; children Stephanie (James) Turcotte, Linda (Timothy) Kilbourne and Steven Jr; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his mother Opal Shackley; brother Brooks (Joyce) Shackley; sister-in-law Mary Lou Shackley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert, and brother Robert.
Shackley was born in Maryland and raised in Boynton Beach.
On Dec. 8, 1967, Shackley married the love of his life, Linda Brewer. They met at Radio Corporation America.
They had three children that he loved dearly, Stephanie Ann, Linda Ann, and Steven Craig Jr.
Shackley loved his family with all his heart and was very close to his older brothers Robert and Brooks.
In 1967, he started a very long career in banking, and retired five years ago. He worked for several banks throughout his career to include Southtrust, Wachovia, and Marine Bank just to name a few.
Throughout his life, Shackley wanted his family to love and care for each other. He loved watching NASCAR and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Senior. He cared about what was going on in the community. He would daily search the surrounding counties’ arrest records for that current day because he enjoyed having the knowledge of what was going on in the community.
He loved going on vacation with his wonderful wife Linda to the mountains. Before his passing he enjoyed life with nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 from 12 to 1 p.m., and a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
