VERO BEACH — A Vero Beach woman is in jail on a felony aggravated battery charge after she attacked a hired construction worker in her home with a hammer, according to the arrest report.
The victim reported he was hired to do work on the inside of the defendant’s home. While he was working, the woman got into an argument with him and began to go “crazy,” the victim told police.
Susan Wasden, 52, of 1135 17th Place, Vero Beach, became angry and swung a hammer at the victim, the report states. He partially blocked the hammer with his forearm, but Wasden still managed to hit the right side of the victim’s head with the metal part of the hammer.
The victim ran away and contacted police.
Wasden told police she was angry with the victim because she thought it was taking too long to complete the construction in her home. But she denied hitting the victim with the hammer, the report shows.
Police noted Wasden’s breath smelled of alcohol and she could not stand on her feet.
She is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.
