INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Members of the Sheriff’s Office and its SWAT unit arrested one person after a search yielded drugs stashed under a toilet in his home.
The search warrant in the 2400 block of 1st Avenue SE, Vero Beach, was executed Wednesday. When authorities arrived they observed the defendant, a female and an infant in the bedroom of the home.
A toilet in the bathroom was overflowing, spilling water out onto the floor, the report shows. Police lifted the toilet out of the floor to find a bag containing hydromorphone and oxycodone pills, and approximately one gram of cocaine.
Less than 20 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, pipe, and other paraphernalia were located in the kitchen and living room.
Kendrick Lester, 29, now faces felony charges including possession of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance, along with a misdemeanor charge of possession marijuana less than 20 grams.
Lester’s booking report lists his address in the 700 block of 5th Place SW, Vero Beach, but the arrest affidavit states Lester is currently living in the 1st Avenue home with the female who was present at the time the warrant was served. Police also located mail in the household with Lester’s name on it.
Lester has been booked on two other occasions in Indian River County this year, both times for violation of probation. He was last booked in the County on drug and domestic abuse charges along with a firearm charge in 2012.
He was released Thursday afternoon on $2,500 bond.
