Vera Hope Ferguson, 94, Vero Beach

Vera Hope Ferguson, 94, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sept. 16, 2015.

She is survived by her three step-sons, George Ferguson (Catherine) of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Daniel Ferguson (Phyllis) of Boise, Idaho, and David Ferguson (Trygve) of Frisco, Texas; nine step-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren; three nieces, Jan McDowell of Pittsburgh, Penn. and Ann Dobrowolski (Gerry) of Basking Ridge, N.J., and Lana Mardis (Jim) of New Castle, Penn.; and three nephews, Brian Fisher of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Tom Jackson (Rosalie) of Parker, Penn., and Jim Jackson (Norma) of Butler, Penn.; three step-nieces, Jane Marsh of Blue Grass, Iowa, Betsy Hochstrine of Greensburg, Penn., and Susan Hanns (Jim) of Export, Penn.; and two step-nephews, David Ferguson (Anita) of Ohio, and David McLaughlin (Nancy) of Naples, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Wilford Ferguson and her son William Lewis.

Ferguson was born in Red Bank, Penn. daughter of the late Bertha and William Funkhouser. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher with a Master’s Degree in Education from Slippery Rock College in Pennsylvania. She was a member of Central Assembly of God in Vero Beach and was instrumental in starting Saints Alive.
