Indian River State College offers medical coding classes on Saturdays

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Treasure Coast residents can prepare for a career in medical coding after only 12 Saturdays this fall through quick job training offered by the Corporate and Community Training Institute (CCTI) at Indian River State College (IRSC).

Participants will learn about medical record documentation to report services and patient treatment, use of the latest systems, compliance with anti-fraud initiatives and insurance and reimbursement. They will be well prepared for medical coding certification, a valued credential in today’s health care industry.

Medical Coding & Documentation will be held on Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Oct. 3 through Dec. 12 at the IRSC Main Campus, Building Y, Room 205 on the 35th Street side of the Fort Pierce campus. The program is marketed in collaboration with the “Plus 50” program at community colleges.

Individuals already working in medical coding can upgrade their skills in four Friday evenings to learn the latest diagnosis system. Medical Coding for ICD-10-CM will be held on Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Y Building at the IRSC Main Campus. Call for Dates.

Employers may qualify for partial reimbursement through an Employed Worker Training Grant offered through the CareerSource of the Treasure Coast.

IRSC offers 21 health care education programs, including certificate programs enabling students to earn a credential in about a year or less, two-year Associate degrees, and Bachelor’s Degrees in Nursing and Health Care Management.
