Myron Holland Morse, 91, Vero Beach

Myron Holland Morse, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2015, at the VNA Hospice House.

He is survived by his wife Beverly of Vero Beach; his daughters Susan (Michael) Vecchione of King George, Va., Brenda Morse of Gilbert, Ariz., and his son, Jeffrey (JJ) Morse of Gilbert Ariz.; grandchildren Jeremy Vecchione, Eric Lutz, Theodore Vecchione, Brian Lutz, Mark Lutz, Thomas Vecchione, Alicia Morse, Melia Morse, Christopher Nielsen, and Skylar Morse; step- grandchildren, Sean, Kiley, Tyler, and Keenan Orlando; great-grandchildren Phillipa Christley, Connor Maidl, Ethan Lutz and Colin Lutz; nieces and nephews Diane Cecily, Andrea Bateen, Richard Benne, Karen TooToo, Kevin Blackburn, Melissah Misquitta, Kenneth Earl Lutz III, and Alexa Lutz.

Morse was born on Dec. 23, 1923, in Grand Minn., to Milo and Cecile Holland Morse.

After high school, Morse attended the University of Minnesota prior to his enlistment in the Army in 1942. He was accepted into the ASTP program where he attended Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He proudly served in the Army during World War II and Korea. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star.

Following his honorable discharge in 1952, Morse began his career in the meat industry as an industrial engineer for Geo. A. Hormel Company in Austin, Minn. He later accepted a position with Cudahy Bar-S in Omaha, Neb. and then moved with their corporate office to Phoenix, Ariz. Morse realized his career goals with Safeway Stores, Inc., managing two meat processing plants in Stockton, Calif. He retired there in 1989.

He married Beverly Ann Lutz in 1949 in Miami Springs, Fla. They enjoyed a special marriage of 66 years. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and Masonic Lodge No.39, Austin, Minn. Locally he shared his time and talent with Sons of the American Revolution and the North Beach Civic Association.

A memorial service will be held at Strunk Funeral Home, 916 17th Street, Vero Beach, Florida at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, 2015. The family is hosting a celebration of Mike’s life at 12830 Hwy A1A, Vero Beach, 1 p.m. on Aug. 3, 2015. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach Florida, 32960.
