INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 25-year-old Vero Beach man is facing a felony sex battery charge for allegedly having sex with a juvenile.
The teenager reportedly snuck out of her house Wednesday night to meet with Gideon Lopez, 25, of the 1700 block of 34th Ave., Vero Beach. The teen told authorities she and Lopez engaged in consensual sexual intercourse in Lopez’s car at the Barber Street Sports Complex in Sebastian.
The teen’s guardian alerted police to the alleged incident after girl was caught sneaking back into the house.
Authorities questioned Lopez who said he was aware of the victim’s age and understood the behavior was illegal, according to the arrest affidavit.
He was released Friday on $20,000 bond.
