SEBASTIAN — Police arrested a Sebastian man Monday evening after they say he stood in front of another man’s house, pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot.
The man, identified as 65-year-old William Hunter, told authorities he also had intentions to carry out a shooting at local resort and restaurant Captain Hiram’s, according to the arrest report.
Hunter, of Pelican Island Place in Sebastian, now faces one charge of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The victim said Hunter came to his home and began waving the gun around, pointing it in the victim’s direction, the arrest report states.
Authorities noted Hunter was standing in the street, holding a bottle of beer and a firearm when they arrived on scene in front of the victim’s home in a residential area in Sebastian.
He put both items down in the grass and cooperated with police during the arrest, according to the arrest report.
During transport, he made multiple random statements and had trouble focusing on a single topic, the report states.
After being secured in a patrol car, Hunter told police he wanted to “kill people” and was capable of it. He said he had plans to go to Captain Hiram’s, where he would “kill everyone and get into a shoot-out with police,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Police collected several firearms from Hunter’s residence including two rifles, two handguns, and a shot gun.
He is being held in the Indian River County Jail on $25,000 bond.
