Maryanne DiMartino, 78, Vero Beach

Maryanne DiMartino, 78, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully at VNA Hospice House on Aug. 13, 2015.

She is survived by her sister Patricia Koehler of Riverside, N.J.; her sons Glenn (Lori) DiMartino of Las Vegas, Nev., Scott DiMartino of Scottsdale, Ariz., Joseph (Kristen) DiMartino of Fort Lauderdale, and Jay (Lara) DiMartino of St. Augustine; and her beloved grandchildren Lauren, Nicole, Chase, Christina, Sofia, Caio, Indie, Nicholas, and Alex.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Arthur Dilzer, Jr.

Daughter of Arthur and Julia Dilzer, DiMartino was born May 12, 1937 in Queens, N.Y. where she attended Grover Cleveland High School. She reminisced the days she rode two trains to work in Times Square and her love for pastel drawing and interior design, but one passion would define her identity until her last breath: her family.

The stars by which she navigated the traps and trappings of life’s journey would always be her four sons: Glenn, Scott, Joey, and Jay. Through fevers and fights; adolescence and angst, she was there. Through weddings and divorces; diapers and graduations, she was there. She defended her sons and fought for them and heard them no matter how wild and misguided. And somehow in the end she called it all “fun.”

But she knew how to have normal fun too. Traveling throughout the Caribbean and spending countless hours under the sun, she made it a point to grab a few cocktails and a lot of laughs with her good friends.

A longtime resident of North Hutchinson Island, Mary Anne worked for Dr. Norman Trabulsy for many years and later moved to Vero Beach where she spent her remaining years working with good friends and loved ones at Sun Aviation.

Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
