Rep. Debbie Mayfield visits Camp Haven

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The men who participate in Camp Haven’s transitional shelter-program for area homeless and at-risk, got a surprise visit from Florida State Representative Debbie Mayfield, District 54, recently.

Mayfield toured the organization’s campus, and saw firsthand the progress that has been made since its inception in 2013.

Gathered around the campus dining room table, Mayfield and program participants exchanged meaningful dialogue on a variety of subject matters, ranging from overcoming adversity to the voting process.

“We greatly appreciate Representative Mayfield for taking the time to visit with the men. It means a lot to them to have their voices heard,” said Camp Haven’s board President, Lalita Janke.

Mayfield’s visit to Camp Haven allowed her to gain a greater understanding of the organization’s mission and an appreciation of the transitional process participants are going through to change their lives for the better.

“Please take a moment to learn more about this amazing organization,” she posted on her official Facebook page following her visit.
