FELLSMERE — The pedestrian who was killed in the Friday morning crash on S. Broadway in Fellsmere has been identified.
Esperanza Garcia, 40, of Fellsmere, died after being struck by Miguel Naranjo, 20, of Fellsmere, who was driving a 2007 BMW 335i, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Naranjo’s vehicle was traveling northbound on S. Broadway south of California Avenue when Garcia was struck, according to FHP. Garcia was standing in the travel lane. Naranjo attempted to avoiding Garcia but collided with her.
The roadway was closed between California and Virginia avenues, according to authorities.
