Katherine Wenz, 75, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 25, 2015.
She is survived by her eight siblings and their spouses, George, Peter (Diane), Donald, Geraldine (Robert), Gina, David (Gigi), Valerie (Greg), and Gregory; her 12 nieces and nephews, Kurt, Heidi, Mark, Brett, Jed, Emily, Zachary, Matthew, Sarah, Hannah, Chelsea and Kara; 12 grand-nieces and nephews; and her dear cousins and cherished friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Eve Wenz, her niece, Jennifer, her sister-in- law, Bonnie, and her beloved aunts and uncles.
Wenz was born in Jersey City, N.J. on April 30, 1940 to George Edward and Eve Anne Lenk Wenz, late of Ridgewood and Middletown, N.J., and Vero Beach.
Wenz lived in Upper Saddle River, N.J. before moving to Vero Beach in 1987. She attended the Academy of Mount Saint Vincent in Tuxedo Park, New York, Marymount College in Arlington, Va., and the New York School of Interior Design in New York, where she also worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
She was a talented artist and designer, as well as a connoisseur of antiques. She enjoyed cooking, theater and painting. Dogs and gardening were especially close to her heart. She loved her family dearly.
Family and friends are invited, and their well-behaved dogs are welcomed, to a memorial gathering for Katie on Saturday, June 13, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at The Plaza at 884 17th Street in Vero Beach. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach and will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Katie’s name to the Humane Society of Vero Beach or the VNA & Hospice Foundation of Indian River County, or to the animal shelter or hospice of your choice.
