INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The driver and his passenger died last night after a crash at State Road 60 and County Road 512.
The driver, Eulogio Abdala Jr., 28, of Vero Beach, and Victor Villalovos, 17, of Fellsmere, were involved in a single car fatal crash around 9:15 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Alcohol was a factor with Abdala, authorities said. Neither Abdala nor Villalovos was wearing his seatbelt.
The 1997 Honda Accord was heading southbound on CR 512 approaching SR 60, according to FHP. The driver failed to stop at the stop sign and continued across all lanes of SR 60. The vehicle then struck an embankment and went airborne, landing partially in a canal.
Both the driver and the passenger died at the scene. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash.
