Jesse E. Samons, 71, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Sunday, on April 5, 2015, after a heroic fight with cancer.
He is survived his wife of 52 years, Deanna Patton Samons of Vero Beach; two children, Jessica Renee’ Samons of Jupiter, and Anthony Dean Samons (Krissy Samons) of Vero Beach; his two grandchildren Dylan Patrick Samons-Knight of Jupiter and Cole Anthony Samons of Vero Beach.
He was born in Martin, Kent. on March 30, 1944. His parents, Paul and Eva Samons of Martin, Kent. preceded his death.
Samons attended Alice Lloyd College and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with his masters in chemistry, bachelors in art and minors in accounting and math. He spent most of his professional career as director of billings and collections at Eastern Kentucky University.
After retiring, Samons explored many other career fields such as working in the financial department at Sam’s Club in Vero Beach, an adjunct professor of chemistry and science at Indian River State College, and most notably served as a pastor for eight years at the First Church of God in Vero Beach.
His family writes, “Our dad and loving husband will be greatly missed, but we know that God’s perfect timing of taking him home on the sunrise of Easter Sunday was fitting and we have peace knowing he’s with our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Family and friends will have a celebration of Jesse’s life at the First Church of God in Vero Beach on Saturday April 25, at 10 a.m. in the main worship center.
