INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The School District of Indian River County’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Program is pleased to announce plans for sign-ups for the 2015-2016 school year. The School District of Indian River County’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten School Year Program is a 540-hour instructional program that provides up to a full school day and a full school year of quality education and care at no cost to parents.
To be eligible for the District’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten School Year Program, a child must be 4-years-old, on or before Sept. 1, 2015, and the family must reside in Indian River County. The 2015-2016 Program will be offered at Dodgertown Elementary, Fellsmere Elementary, Glendale Elementary, Indian River Academy, Pelican Island Elementary, and Vero Beach Elementary.
Requirements for each location are as follows:
• Dodgertown Elementary: Families must reside in the Dodgertown Elementary home school zone to be eligible to participate in the lottery for the available slots.
• Fellsmere Elementary: Families must reside in the Fellsmere Elementary home school zone to be eligible to participate in the lottery for the available slots.
• Glendale Elementary: Families must reside in the Glendale Elementary home school zone to be eligible to participate in the lottery for the available slots.
• Indian River Academy: Families must reside in the Indian River Academy home school zone to be eligible to participate in the lottery for the available slots.
• Pelican Island Elementary: Families must reside in the Pelican Island Elementary, Sebastian Elementary, or Treasure Coast Elementary home school zones to be eligible for the lottery for the available slots.
• Vero Beach Elementary: Families must reside in the Beachland Elementary, Citrus Elementary, or Vero Beach Elementary home school zones to be eligible to participate in the lottery for the available slots.

Families may come during any of the scheduled times and locations listed below to submit a child’s contact information and documentation of the child’s eligibility to Pre-K staff.

Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pre-K Office at the Support Services Complex, north of Storm Grove Middle School on 62nd Ave and north of 57th Street.
Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pre-K Office at the Support Services Complex, north of Storm Grove Middle School on 62nd Ave and north of 57th Street.
Friday, April 10, 2015 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Fellsmere Elementary, 50 N. Cypress Street, Fellsmere 32948.
Monday, April 13, 2015 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pre-K Office at the Support Services Complex, north of Storm Grove Middle School on 62nd Ave and north of 57th Street
Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Pre-K Office at the Support Services Complex north of Storm Grove Middle School on 62nd Ave and north of 57th Street.
Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pre-K Office at the Support Services Complex north of Storm Grove Middle School on 62nd Ave and north of 57th Street.
Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Pre-K Office at the Support Services Complex, north of Storm Grove Middle School on 62nd Ave and north of 57th Street.
Friday, April 17, 2015 from 1 to 3:00 p.m. at Indian River Academy, 500 – 20th Street SW, Vero Beach 32962.
Documentation that is required for participation in the sign-up process includes proof of the child’s age (ex: original birth certificate), proof of the family’s residency (ex: a bill for a service received in the family name at a current address).
Documentation that is requested but not required for participation in the sign-up process is the child’s social security card and certificate of eligibility from the early learning coalition.
The certificate of eligibility document can be obtained online at https://vpkcp.floridaearlylearning.com/ or with Coalition staff, by appointment, by calling 1-877-220-1223.
If there are more families interested in the slots than there are slots available, the slots will be filled through a lottery process. A computer generated, random selection process will be applied to the contact information and all families will be notified in writing of the outcome for their child. Letters of either “Acceptance” or “Wait List” will be mailed out to families. Notification letters for parents of accepted children will include specific directions for completing the registration and enrollment process with the Pre-K Office.
Complete required eligibility documentation must be received at the Pre-K Office no later than 9 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015, to be included in the lottery/selection process.
If a child is not selected to participate in the School District of Indian River County’s School Year Voluntary Pre-K Program, notification letters will include information for families to access their child’s Voluntary Pre-K services from either another eligible Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten provider, during the school year or from the school district during the summer, prior to their entry into Kindergarten.
