INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Genealogical Society with the Brevard Genealogical Society, the Genealogical Society of South Brevard and the Treasure Coast Genealogical Society will host the popular Annual Valentine Genealogy Seminar on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015. The all-day seminar will be held at the Richardson Center of the Indian River State College, Mueller Campus, in Vero Beach, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
The speaker, Lisa Louise Cooke, is the producer and host of the “Genealogy Gems Podcast,” an online genealogy audio show at www.genealogygems.com. She is the author of the books Turn Your iPad into a Genealogy Powerhouse, How to Find Your Family History in Newspapers, The Genealogist’s Google Toolbox, and Genealogy Gems: Ultimate Research Strategies, as well as the “Google Earth for Genealogy” DVD series. She is a writer, instructor and podcaster for “Family Tree Magazine,” and a sought after keynote speaker and presenter who has been featured at conferences and seminars such as “Who Do You Think You Are? Live” in London, RootsTech, The Southern California Genealogical Society jamboree, and the NGS National Conference.
Topics for the day-long seminar include: Ultimate Google Search Strategies & Tips; Get the Scoop on Your Ancestors with Newspapers; Time Travel with Google Earth; and How to Reopen and Work a Genealogical Cold Case. The registration fee is $45 for the general public and includes lunch. Members of the four organizing genealogical societies may register for $40.
