Robert Van De Walker, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 4, 2015, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Helen P. Van De Walker; daughters Janet Svedin (Bjorn) and Mary Ann Vermillion (Mike); grandchildren Lucas, Jacob and Emma Svedin, Katie and Chad Vermillion; and a sister Marydee Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Van De Walker and Mary Victoria Lucas and a brother Frank Van De Walker.
He was born in Rockford, Ill., and lived in Vero Beach for 18 years coming from Hendersonville, Tenn., where he was a longtime resident establishing Van Vending Service, Inc. in 1976. In 1996, Mr. Van De Walker retired to Vero Beach where he spent much of his time serving the Lord as Head of Trustees for Grace Baptist Church. He loved and was devoted to his church family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 1285 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Robert L. Van De Walker. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Grace Baptist Church, Vero Beach. A Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Grace Baptist Church, Vero Beach with Rev. Chris Drinnon officiating. Interment will be in Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Hendersonville, Tenn.
Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
