INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Police gave chase to a man in a blue Buick sedan on Thanksgiving night beginning at approximately 9 p.m. when the driver refused to stop for an officer pulling him over for a broken tag light.
Dexter Antwain Clark, 25, of Fellsmere, was arrested in the 4000th block of 45th Street after he allegedly sped away from police going more than 100 miles per hour, ditched his vehicle, and continued to flee on foot.
An air support unit observed Clark entering a home on 46th Street, according to the arrest affidavit.
The arresting officer reported he heard “a loud commotion of people screaming and shuffling” inside the home. According to the official report, three occupants of the home walked out of the residence looking “frightened,” “confused,” and “visibly shaken,” upon the officer’s arrival.
The occupants were moved to a safe place while a perimeter was established.
Authorities found Clark inside the 46th Street home.
According to the report, Clark pleaded with one of the residents to tell law enforcement that she knew him. She told authorities Clark did not live in the home and was not invited to be in the home.
Further investigation revealed Clark has a suspended Florida driver’s license for failure to pay a traffic record, has previous suspensions in his driving record, and is listed as a gang member.
Clark is being held in lieu of $52,000 bond and faces charges including felony burglary of an occupied dwelling, felony flee and elude, misdemeanor resist arrest without violence, and misdemeanor drive with license suspended/revoked/cancelled.
