INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Genealogical Society (IRGS) is pleased to announce that Craig R. Scott, CG, FUGA, will speak at its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 18, to be held at the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach.
Note the meeting is on the third Tuesday, due to venue availability. The business meeting will convene at 9:30 a.m. followed by refreshments and Scott’s presentation at 10:30 a.m. This meeting is free and open to the public.
Craig R. Scott, CG, FUGA is President and CEO of Heritage Books, Inc., a genealogical publishing firm with over 5300 titles in print. A researcher for more than 28 years, he specializes in the records of the National Archives, problem solving and publishing.
Scott was awarded the Grahame T. Smallwood, Jr. Award by APG in 2008 and the UGA Silver Tray Award in 2009. A nationally known lecturer and educator he has appeared on the Ancestry Show and the Neil Leherer News Hour. He brings enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge to each engagement.
In keeping with our November program tradition, IRGS has asked Craig R. Scott, CG, FUGA, to speak to our members and guests on military research. One of the difficulties frequently encountered in military research is the lack of compiled military service records for Regular Army personnel. Therefore, it is up to the researcher to create such a compilation.
Scott is known for giving energetic and enlightening lectures, loaded with tips and information one cannot find in the normal course of genealogical research. This is truly a meeting that should not be missed.
