UPDATE: U.S. Marshals arrest 1, still searching for 2nd fugitive

VERO BEACH — The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed Wednesday afternoon that they arrested one fugitive in an operation in Vero Beach near Rosewood Magnet. A second fugitive, however, was not located at that apartment.

Arrested in the operation was 25-year-old Lyndon Antwan Ford, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service. Authorities are still searching for Patrick Mobley, 23.

Mobley is the last of five men wanted out of Sumter County for more than one shooting that occurred in July. Both Mobley and Ford face two counts of attempted first degree murder, among other charges.

The U.S. Marshals Service is asking for the public’s help in determining Mobley’s whereabouts. The public is encouraged to call 911 upon seeing him but are warned against engaging him.

According to the spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service, the agency developed information that both Ford and Mobley were holed up in an apartment in the 1800 block of 40th Avenue for the last several weeks.

“We confirmed that both fugitives had been hiding at this apartment for several weeks,” he said.

The U.S. Marshals Service is continuing its investigation into Mobley.

The spokesman for the Service credited the “great coordination” of efforts of numerous law enforcement agencies, including the Vero Beach Police Department, for Ford’s arrest.

Those who have already been arrested in the July Sumter County shootings are:

  • Antwan Deon Williams, 34
  • Traci Hutcheson, 30
  • Ivan Mobley, 27
