Arthur Albert Baisley, 87, passed away Aug. 13, 2014, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian. He was born in Peekskill, NY, on Jan. 29, 1927, to Arthur and Kathryn Matlock Baisley.
On Oct. 14, 1950, he married Ada Mae Baisley who predeceased him.
Art served on the USS Saratoga during World War II.
He was a member and Chaplain of American Legion Post #189, member of VFW Post #10210, Polish League of American Veteran, Amvets Post, Vero Beach, USS Saratoga Association, life member of the Eagles #4067, Orioles Nest #272, Sebastian, Loyal Order of Moose, #1767, Sebastian, Masonic Temple Lodge No 232, Sebastian, GM Retirees Club of the Treasure Coast, Blood Bank Coordinator for Legion and VFW.
Art worked at General Motors in Tarrytown, NY, and Feldman News in Peekskill, NY, before retiring to Micco in 1984.
He was an avid Dancer who owned Arthur Baisley Dance Studio in Peekskill, NY in his younger years.
He was a member of Roseland United Methodist Church, Roseland.
Survivors include his sons, Arthur and Alan; daughter, Cathy Ballou; grandchildren; and brother, Calvin Baisley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Kathryn Matlock Baisley and sister, Mildred Marallo.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug 24, at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian. A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, with Father Dave Newhart of St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, officiating.
Military Honors will be held at Noon Monday, Aug. 25, at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay, FL. Military Honors are conducted by the Sebastian Area Veterans’ Honor Guard.
