VERO BEACH — Christmas in July is returning to Waldo’s for the 7th year on Sunday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. But the annual toy drive has a new sponsor and will include two new parties to celebrate “the season.”
After six successful years partnering with the Love Doctors Charities, this year’s proceeds will benefit the Indian River County Chapter of the Marine Corps Toys For Tots program.
“We will be bringing back last year’s most popular new feature: the DUCK OFF,” said Lee Olsen, Waldo’s long time general manager. “A $10 donation will buy participants a chance to win $1,000 Visa card, as well as other great prizes. And we think we have the most entertaining drawing in town: Numbers are written on the bottom of hundreds of rubber duckies, which are sent on a watery cascade from the roof of the Driftwood Inn into the Waldo’s pool, where the winners are chosen with a pool scoop.”
The calendar of new events is the Duck Pub Crawl on Tuesday, July 8, at 6 p.m. The crawl starts and ends at Kilted Mermaid with stops at Blue Agave, The Grove and The Stamp – revelers will be led by Santa and his Duck.
Then on July 12, beginning at 7 p.m., Blue Star Wine Bar will host its first Christmas-in-July Eve Party.
In addition to these exciting new happenings, Waldo’s will continue the traditions that have made the Sunday event into the biggest party of the summer: the toy drive poker run (first bike out at 10 a.m. and last bike in at 2:30 p.m.), along with a charity cook out, 50/50 raffle and the ever popular U-Pick-It raffle.
