Grooves record store owner found dead inside business

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The owner of the Grooves music store on Old Dixie Highway was found dead over the weekend inside his store, authorities said.

Investigators believe the death was a suicide but are awaiting the results of an autopsy scheduled Monday for confirmation.

Indian River County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers said they were called out to the business after a family member reported receiving a text message from 49-year-old Steven Haight. That message indicated he was going to harm himself.

Deputies were dispatched to Grooves Saturday and forced their way in, Sgt. Flowers said, where they found Haight dead.

Grooves is located at 1179 Old Dixie Hwy., in Vero Beach.
