INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Palm Bay man has been arrested after an out of season Snook was found in his possession by a Fish and Wildlife Conservation officer in Indian River County.
Luis Guerrero Delgado, 50, was arrested Friday around 10 p.m. for violation of having a Snook in his possession between June 1 and Aug. 31, interference or obstruction of an FWC Officer, and not having a Snook permit, according to the report. He also faces a charge because he did not sign the misdemeanor citation, according to the arrest report.
FWC Ofc. Matthew Land conducted a traffic stop on A1A south of Windsor Boulevard that was towing a vessel without a tag on the trailer, according to authorities.
Guerrero Delgado said the tag had recently fallen off and it was in the vessel. When Ofc. Land went to the vessel he noticed a bucket, cooler, and fishing polls in the vessel.
Ofc. Land was asked if Guerrero Delgado had caught any fish, which Guerrero Delgado replied no, then Land was permitted to look in the bucket and cooler. In the bucket he located a Snook measuring 9-3/4 inches. Snook is not currently in season and it was also undersized.
Guerrero Delgado became agitated when he was asked to sign a property receipt and a citation for the out of season Snook. Guerrero Delgado was taken into custody because of his refusal.
“I don’t care; take me to jail,” said Guerrero Delgado. “I want to talk to judge (sic).”
