Joanne Riley, 83, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 28, 2014.
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth (Pattie) Hutchens; sons, Mark and Brian; and her grandchildren, Lesli Conard, Dan Riley, Shannon Riley and Abigail Riley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Peggy Jane Hutchens Holland; and her daughter, Diane.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1931, in Fulton, Kent., to Leon and Bulah Mae (Wright) Hutchens, and was the middle of three children. She attended high school in South Fulton, Tenn. She traveled abroad and domestically, seeking adventures.
She came to Vero Beach as a companion, and eventually made it her permanent home. She enjoyed outings with her many and varied friends, and was an active member of the Kentucky Club. She loved horse racing on television and in person at tracks in Florida, Illinois and California.
Riley was an avid reader, and she played bridge and danced. She had many friends who will greatly miss her. She valued her friends, and was always willing to lend a hand. She will be remembered by all for earrings that always matched her outfit.
