Vero City Council wants more time to review rail impact study

VERO BEACH – Vero Beach City Council has requested a 180-day review period of the federal Environmental Impact Study planned after All Aboard Florida, responsible for the high speed rail that was supposed to be entirely privately funded, applied for a federal loan.

The Vero Beach request is in support of a similar request drafted by the Board of County Commissioners.

Also in the resolution is a request for a venue for a public hearing on the rail project.

“We fully support it,” said City Manager Jim O’Connor of the resolution, which urges that no public entity fund any part of the All Aboard Florida venture.
