Betty I. Johnston, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 15, 2014, after a prolonged illness.
She is survived by her son Ted Johnston; brother, Richard White; and sister, Carol Vasileff. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and family members in Florida, Ohio, Texas and California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie C Johnston, and her son, Tom Johnston.
Johnston was born Nov. 8, 1922 to Harry and Jennie White of Akron, Ohio.
She enjoyed careers in nursing and real estate before retiring. She also enjoyed golf, long walks on the beach, and quiet reading with her beloved cats at her home by the sea. She was a generous, gracious and kind person with a great sense of humor. She was a member of Trinity By The Cove Episcopal of church in Naples, and Trinity Episcopal church in Vero Beach.
The family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals who provided excellent care for Betty including Private Nursing Care, Grace Rehabilitation Center of Vero Beach, and VNA/Hospice House. A special thanks to Dr. Garrick Kantzler and his staff for providing such wonderful and personal care for Betty over the years. It was so greatly appreciated. A private service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VNA/Hospice House of Vero Beach.
