UDPATE: Identities released in CR 510/512 crash, work continues

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Road work on the affected area is ongoing and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is advising drivers to avoid the area of County Road 510 and County Road 512. According to a message through twitter, work will be complete around 8 p.m. at the latest.


INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The identities of the drivers in this morning’s crash at CR 510 and CR 512 have been released by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Robert Putnam, 19, of Sebastian, was driving a 2002 Jeep SUV, and Marlon Taliferro, 58, of Jacksonville, was driving the semitrailer, according to the report.

Putnam is listed in serious condition at Holmes Regional Hospital, and Taliferro suffered minor injuries, according to authorities.

Putnam’s vehicle suffered an estimated $6,000 damage and Taliferro’s vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 worth of damage.

The semitrailer was traveling east on CR 512 in the outside lane, according to FHP, approaching the intersection with CR 510. Putnam was traveling south on CR 510 in the intersection with CR 512.

Both vehicles reportedly entered the intersection at the same time. Putnam’s vehicle’s front struck the right side of the semitrailer. The semitrailer veered to the right and its front struck a concrete pole.

Charges are pending, according to FHP.


INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — All lanes of travel are currently open according to the Florida Highway Patrol website after a morning crash involving a vehicle and a semitrailer.


INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Traffic signals in the area of CR 510 and 512 are also being affected because of the crash this morning, according to the authorities.


INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Eastbound CR 512 at CR 510 has been blocked by a crash involving a vehicle and a semitrailer, according to authorities.

A power line is lying across the semitrailer trapping the driver, according to the police scanner. The 19-year-old driver of the vehicle has been ejected and authorities are waiting for a medical helicopter to transport the person. The landing zone is being setup at the soccer fields at the North County Park. 

The power has been shut down to the surrounding area. Sebastian River High school could be affected. The Sunoco Station currently does not have power.

The semi was carrying medical supplies.
