Robert Tougas, 82, Vero Beach

Robert Tougas, 82, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 15, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann; nephew, Jeffrey Nolan; five nieces and nephews; and 25 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Nolan.

Tougas was born in Charlestown, R.I. He was the son of the late Edmond and Irene (Normandin) Tougas of East Greenwich, R.I. He had been a resident of Vero Beach coming from Largo, Fla., where he had lived for 45 years.

Tougas served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1959. Tougas’ career included being employed by Bostitch in R.I., Honeywell Aerospace Division, Sperry Defense Electronic Systems, and lastly for Marine Metal Products of Clearwater, Fla., as a Mechanical Engineer and Inventor.

He was a Ham Radio Operator enthusiast, he enjoyed boating, RV trips, and feeding and caring for the homeless in the Largo and Clearwater areas. He was also a member of the American Legion and St. Jerome Catholic Church in Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to www.michaeljfox.org/donations in Robert’s memory.

Arrangements are under the care of Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce.
