Opal M. “Granny Ope” (Taylor) Costello, 84, of Vero Beach, Florida, died at home on March 13, 2014.
She was born May 11, 1929, in Elkins, W. Va., and had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1967, coming from Beverly, W. Va.
Opal married Delbert Costello on Sept. 8, 1946. They had 53 years together until his death in 1998.
Opal and her siblings remained deeply close throughout her life. Visits by her children, grandchildren, other family, and friends were treasured moments.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Hearndon, of Fellsmere, Judy (Tom) Hamilton, of Vero Beach, and Deb Branwell, of Vero Beach; sisters, Freda Higgins, Mary Ellen (George) Hinchman and Betty (John) Jack; brother, Jim (Janice) Taylor; grandson, Bill Hearndon; four step-grandsons, Tommy and Mark Hamilton, Shaun Branwell and Brian Tooker-Hearndon; three step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Costello was predeceased by her husband, Delbert “Deb” Costello, and her infant son, Dewayne.
The family received friends from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. Costello’s memory to H.A.L.O. Animal Rescue, Sebastian, or a charity of your choice.
