Barbara Sparrow, 76, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 8, 2014, after a long and sad battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She is survived by her husband, Caleb, three daughters: Deborah Bauer, Karen Wessel, and Catherine Sparrow; four grandchildren, Anthony (Tony) Caleb Bauer, Katherine (Katy) Mary Bauer, Karla Lynn Bolin, and Jacob Caleb Sparrow.
Barbara was born in 1938 at Ft. Monroe, Hampton, Va. She graduated from Hampton High School Class of 1956.
She married her high school sweetheart, Caleb G. “Kay” Sparrow in 1957. They lived in Denbigh (Newport News), Va. While her daughters were in school, Barbara enjoyed her time as an elementary school secretary.
Kay and Barbara moved to Florida in 1981. Barbara helped Kay start his own business in the telecommunications industry in Vero Beach. Barbara was an avid reader and an excellent seamstress who made beautiful handmade quilts. She most enjoyed spending time off at her peaceful and tranquil home on Vero Beach’s barrier island. Barbara cherished any time she could spend with family and especially her grandchildren.
A Memorial Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Grasso Funeral, Memorial, and Cremation, 12515 Ulmerton Rd., Largo, Fla., at 1 p.m. Internment will be private and at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The Alzheimer Foundation.
