John E. Warner, 71, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 2, 2014.
He was survived by his wife of 48 years, Nan; sons, John (Kelly), and Tom (Cary); and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Audrey, John, William and Sarah.
He was predeceased by a sister.
Born in Evanston, Ill., Warner was the son of the late Katherine and Gene Warner. He moved to Canton at a young age and graduated from Lehman High School. He attended the University of Miami where he was a member of SAE and graduated from Ohio State University. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Carnegie Mellon University and the Program for Executives at Harvard. He also completed courses at the University of Michigan, Kent State University, Florida Atlantic University, and the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.
He retired from Diebold, where he was Director of Strategic Planning. He subsequently was President of the W. L. Jenkins Co., and President of Harrison Paint Company and CFO of Velo International.
Warner was a member of the Board of Directors of the W.L. Jenkins Co., and the BWOAC. He was the General Chairman of the 50th Campaign of the Central Stark County United Way and served on the Board of the United Way. He was the Treasurer and an usher of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. He was a volunteer and served on the Board of the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. He was a member of the Indian River Planning Commission.
He was also a member of Glenmoor Country Club and the John’s Island Club.
