Raymond Johanson Scent, 86, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 24, 2014.
A lifelong resident of Vero Beach, Scent was a 29 year U.S. Navy veteran rising through the ranks from Seaman Recruit to retire a Lieutenant Commander. His second career was as a real estate broker.
Scent was also an auctioneer and delighted in being both a Lieutenant Commander and a Colonel. He fulfilled his calling in 1995 when he was ordained into the ministry.
Many will remember him as the Hospital Chaplain at Indian River Medical Center where he served for 11 years. He leaves a legacy of dedication to God and country, which began with Boy Scouts and grew into a lifetime of community service. His love and caring will be forever imprinted in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
His family invites you to join them in celebrating Scent’s life at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the First United Methodist Church, 1750 20th St., Vero Beach.
