SEBASTIAN — An estimated $146,000 in fines was racked up on a residential property on Coral Reef Street in Sebastian for being in violation of building codes for upwards of three years.
The fines included administrative fees to deal with the property and $20 per day for every day the building remained out of code.
At Wednesday’s City Council meeting, the City of Sebastian agreed to reduce the fines to $5,000 in order to cover city expenses now that the property has entered foreclosure.
According to a bank representative, the property is now in compliance.
