Mary Katherine “Kay” Solsberry, 88, Vero Beach

Mary Katherine “Kay” Solsberry, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 8, 2014.

She is survived by her son, David Solsberry (Heather); grandchildren; Richard B. Solsberry (Casey Amanda), Daniel Solsberry, and Michael Solsberry; great-grandchildren; Katherine “Katy Beth” and Logan Solsberry; and caregivers/surrogate family members Mary Powell and Carol Carter.

Solsberry was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Solsberry; son Richard A. Solsberry; and daughter, Victoria Solsberry.

Solsberry was born in Flat River, Mo., on Sept. 27, 1925 and graduated from Flat River High School in 1942. She married Victor “Gene” Solsberry on Sept. 5, 1948. She raised her children in Washington, Mo., Columbus, Ohio, Springfield, Mo.,, and Chicago, Ill., before becoming a permanent resident of Vero Beach in 1980.

She was owner and operator of Kay’s Antiques in Long Grove, Ill., from 1977 to 1980. She was co-owner of Indian River Ace Hardware, which was located at 1960 44th Ave. in Vero Beach, from 1980 to 1997.

Solsberry was a longtime member of First Church of God, located at 1105 58th Ave., Vero Beach, Florida 32966.
