John A. Melville, 67, Vero Beach

John A. Melville, 67, died Dec. 10, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Malone, N.Y., and wintered in Sebastian.

He was a graduate of Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y., where he received his masters degree; graduate of St. Johns University, Queens, N.Y., where he received his bachelors.

He retired from Franklin Academy, Malone, N.Y., where he taught chemistry.

He was a member of The Burke Church, Burke, N.Y.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #219, Malone, N.Y.; Malone Golf Club, Malone, N.Y.; Elks Club of Sebastian and Malone, N.Y.; past trustee of the First Congregational Church of Malone.

Survivors include wife of 46 years, Carla C. Melville, of Malone, N.Y., and Sebastian; son, Eric Melville (Julie), of Huntsville, Ala.; daughter, Kerry Marchese (Michael), of Saugus, Mass.; granddaughters, Alexandria Melville, of Huntsville, Ala., and Gabriella Marchese, of Saugus, Mass.; grandson, John Melville, of Huntsville, Ala.; brother, Gary Melville, of Lewisville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life service was held at 11:30 p.m. on December 13, 2013, at the Pelican Pointe Marina, Sebastian.
