Polls close on Vero Beach, Sebastian Council elections

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — More than 26,800 registered voters of Vero Beach and Sebastian today had the chance to cast their ballot for those who would represent them on their respective daises. The two cities held their municipal elections from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sebastian’s voters chose three candidates from a field of five. The candidates includde incumbents Mayor Bob McPartlan, Vice Mayor Don Wright, and Councilwoman Andrea Coy and challengers Richard Gillmor, a former councilman and mayor, and Sebastian businessman Damien Gilliams.

Sebastian has more than 16,000 registered voters.

In Vero Beach, voters selected two representatives out of five candidates to serve on council.

Vero’s candidates included incumbents Councilwoman Tracy Carroll and Councilman Dick Winger. The challengers included former councilman Brian Heady, Amelia Graves, and Joseph Guffanti. Former Vero Beach mayor and councilman Warren Winchester was a candidate, but withdrew from the race for health reasons.

Vero Beach has more than 10,000 registered voters.

The Supervisor of Elections Office will begin to compile the results and release the information as it becomes available.

The results will be broadcast on Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Indian River County’s government channels, 13, 25 and 27, respectively.
