FORT PIERCE — Rick Kaiser, Master Chief SEAL (ret.) and Executive Director of the National Navy SEAL Museum and Memorial, announced a 5K to benefit the museum will be held on Sat., Nov. 9.
The race begins directly in front of the museum at 7 a.m. Experienced runners, weekend enthusiasts, families, and teams are invited to join in the fun while supporting the museum and its endeavors.
The origins of Navy SEALs actually began with specially organized maritime commando units during World War II, where legacy capabilities were adopted and remain embodied in today’s SEAL teams.
The historic museum site is on the very beaches where the first volunteers for the Naval Combat Demolition Units and Underwater Demolition Teams (predecessors of today’s SEALs) trained to assault the beaches of Normandy and Southern France in Europe and numerous islands throughout the Pacific, including the invasion of Japan.
As the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to the elite warriors of Naval Special Warfare, we are ever mindful of our mission to preserve the history of the US Navy SEALs and their predecessors.
In addition to the units above, the SEAL museum honors the Office of Strategic Services Maritime Units and Amphibious Scouts and Raiders. Often called the “quiet professionals,” they take on the most dangerous missions, often anonymously, and ask for nothing in return.
The National Navy SEAL Museum and Memorial provides a unique view into the world and history of Naval Special Warfare and the heroes who have served.
