VERO BEACH — The Future Leaders Professional Advisors Council of the Indian River Community Foundation is inviting nonprofit organizations to submit grant proposals for programs that serve Indian River County youth ages 12-18.
Applications are due Oct. 4 and must be submitted on the Indian River County Funders Forum core grant application. The application and the grant guidelines are both available at www.IRCommunityFoundation.com.
The Future Leaders Professional Advisors Council is a group of emerging leaders who have an interest in charitable giving, estate planning, and other philanthropic instruments. This is the second year the group has chosen youth development as a strategic funding focus.
“We believe youth development programs are critical to helping youth, especially at risk teenagers, transition into adulthood. We are looking for programs that help teenagers build close relationships and ownership of the role they can play in improving quality of life in our community,” said Shaun Fedder, Chairman of the Future Leaders.
“The Future Leaders will award two grants of $2,500 each in November. The funds must be expended by May 31, 2014,” explained Kerry Bartlett, Executive Director of the Indian River Community Foundation.
Bartlett assisted the Future Leaders in creating the grants program and will oversee its implementation.
“The role of the Community Foundation is to help the Future Leaders in the selection and grant funding process. Once the grants are awarded, we will monitor the progress of the funded projects and provide a final report on the outcomes to the Future Leaders group,” Bartlett added.
The Future Leaders are interested in funding programs that have the potential for long term impact on underserved, economically disadvantaged youth. Among other requirements, a successful proposal will show how youth are engaged as partners alongside adults in determining how the program or project is executed.
The Indian River Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides donors with flexible, philanthropic tools to achieve their current and long term, charitable giving goals. The foundation’s mission is to build a stronger community through donor driven philanthropy.
To be eligible for the Future Leaders grant program, nonprofit organizations must have an active profile on the Indian River Community Foundation Nonprofit Knowledge Center before the application due date.
Nonprofits are also strongly encouraged to carefully read the request for proposals, available on the website at www.IRCommunityFoundation.com, before applying.
