VERO BEACH — Cynthia Falardeau, executive director of the Education Foundation of Indian River County, discussed the independent organization’s role in enhancing educational opportunities for area students and teachers during the Democratic Women’s Club’s luncheon meeting.
A graduate of Albion College in Michigan, Falardeau worked in retail management and human resources prior to joining the nonprofit Education Foundation in 2005.
Her position covers a multitude of responsibilities, including administering the foundation’s seven core programs and managing the various fundraising activities that enable the channeling of resources directly into the classroom.
Falardeau, who was selected the area’s 2013 Woman of the Year, is active in several professional and community organizations, including the Parent Advisory Committee for the School District of Indian River County.
She serves on the executive committee of the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, and as president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is past president of the Junior League of Indian River County and a volunteer for Autism Speaks.
Falardeau is also a monthly contributor to Parenting Special Needs Magazine, CNN-iReport, and Scripps Newspapers.
