Carlson was born May 18, 1924 in Gary, Ind., and died Aug. 5, 2013 in Kirkland, Wash., at the age of 89.
Carlson was an avid private pilot, palm grower, birder, clock collector, and world traveler.
Survivors include his daughters, Amy Kredlo, of Raymond, Wash., and Nancy Cox, of Kirkland, Wash.; step children Chuck Bresler, of Bloomdale, Ohio; Terri Virost, of San Antonio, Texas; and Kim Jones, of Bloomdale, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Carlson in February.
