Thomas Balsamo, 84, Vero Beach

Thomas Balsamo, 84, died July 27, 2013, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 22 years, coming from Long Island, N.Y.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Prior to retirement, he was a truck driver for White Rock Coastal and Exxon Oil.

Following his retirement, he worked at Jai Alai in Fort Pierce.

He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

He was a member of the VFW and the Teamsters Local 807 of Brooklyn, N.Y. Survivors include his sons, Thomas Balsamo, of Vero Beach and Robert Balsamo, of Daytona; daughters, Antoinette Hasher, of Bayfort, N.Y., and Joelaine Quinn, of Vero Beach; brother, Albert Balsamo, of Lauderdale Lakes; sister, Anna Turturro, of Hallandale; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Concetta Balsamo; and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon, with the funeral at noon July 31 at Aycock Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
