Eleanor B. Simon, 83, died July 23, 2013, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce.
She was born in New York City and lived in Vero Beach since 1986, coming from New York.
Before retirement in 2011, she was a Realtor for Ed Schlitt Caldwell Banker in Vero Beach.
She was a board member for the Substance Awareness Center and Alcohope, both in Vero Beach.
She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and the Substance Addiction Ministry at St. Helen Catholic Church.
She also was a member of the Juvenile Justice Council.
She was a founding member of Hanley Hall, Character Counts and the Samaritan Center, where she organized the annual Soup Bowl Fundraiser.
Survivors include her daughters, Suellyn Simon and Vickie Shannon, both of Vero Beach; sons, Joel Simon, of Minnesota and Chris Simon, of Vero Beach; sister, Catherine Scherer, of Long Island, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Simon; and brother, Michael Bartl Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon July 27 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
