Gisela Ruhruth Peirce, 83, died March 13, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
She was born in, Elberfeld, Germany, and moved to Vero Beach in 1990, coming from Ledyard, Conn.
She earned her bachelor of science degree in biology from Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Va.
Before retirement, she was office manager for Dr. Harold Kaplan, Groton, Conn.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.
She was a former volunteer of Indian River Medical Center for 12 years and more recently volunteered at Our Savior Lutheran Church, as a member of the “Folding Committee” and the “Crafty Ladies.”
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Stephen Peirce; daughters, Heidi Rowley, of Gales Ferry, Conn., and Stephanie Zauner, of Mystic, Conn.; son, Frederic Peirce, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be in August at Our Savior Lutheran Church and will be announced at a later date.
