William Lawrence Colontrelle, 68, died Dec. 23, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Bronx, N.Y., and had lived in Vero Beach since 1972, coming from Bergenfield, N.J.
He was a teacher in the Indian River County School District for 35 years.
He served as a sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a graduate of St. Michael’s College in Santa Fe, N.M., with a bachelor of arts in science and physical education, and Indian River State College for accreditation for heating and air conditioning.
He was a volunteer at the Victory Center at the Indian River Mall in Vero Beach and an assistant football coach for Vero Beach High School and Sebastian Junior High School.
He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his sons, Jason Colontrelle, of Vero Beach and Matthew Colontrelle, of Montrose, Colo.; brother, John Colontrelle, of Vero Beach; sisters, Mary Lou Commerford and Maureen Walker, of Vero Beach; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 5 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Jan. 5 at Strunk Funeral Home Vero Beach with military honors by Veterans Foreign Wars Post 3918.
