VERO BEACH — The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce will host the county’s legislative delegation at a lunch on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The event will take place at the Executive Courthouse on 14th Ave. beginning at Noon.
This will be the first time Senator Thad Altman has attended the Chamber’s delegation event.
During the redistricting process earlier this year, Senator Altman, State Senate District 16, gained the north and western portions of Indian River County. The Florida Legislature passed the new districts based on the 2010 Census, federal and state legal standards, citizen testimony, publicly-drawn maps, and open committee discussion.
Altman has served in Florida’s Senate since 2008 and previously held a seat in the Florida House of Representatives from 2003 until 2008.
Also scheduled to attend the Chamber’s event are Senator Joe Negron, State Senate District 32, and Representative Debbie Mayfield, House District 54.
Senator Negron serves as a Senator for the southeast portion of Indian River County. He was first elected to the Senate in 2009 and has been reelected since that time. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 until 2006.
Representative Mayfield began serving in the House of Representatives in 2008 and has been subsequently re-elected. Since redistricting, Mayfield serves all of Indian River County. She was Majority Deputy Whip in 2009-2010 and is the Chair of the Indian River County Delegation.
The public is invited to attend the luncheon. Reservations are needed and can be made by calling the chamber at (772) 567-3491, ext 110. Cost is $14 per person.
The Chamber’s leadership believes it is important to provide members and others with opportunities to get the facts first hand on issues facing our Indian River County and Florida.
