VERO BEACH — Tuesday afternoons beginning Oct. 16 The Community Church begins their newest outreach program, the Community Cares Caravan, or C3. This is the first of a series of Missions Board events in the 2012 season.
Subsequent events are the Samaritan Soup Bowl Preview on Oct. 28; participation in the county-wide Samaritan Soup Bowl, Nov. 1; The Community Church Food Drive on Nov. 18, and participation in the county-wide Christmas Wish Trees program and Alternative Gifts programs both beginning Nov. 25.
The Church has previously conducted several Community Cares Caravans among the Missions Board, Congregants and friends of the Church. It’s now time to open the opportunity to all residents of Indian River County and beyond.
Each afternoon, the C3 bus will take interested parties to non-profit agencies in Indian River County. Three to four hours will be devoted to three to four agencies. The agencies will conduct mini seminars including tours of the facilities. The visitors will learn first-hand what the agencies’ vital services are to those in-need, what their desires are and what the public can do to offer as much support as feasibly possible in this very tight economic period, be it on-site volunteers, off-site volunteers, or monetary.
The Community Cares Caravan runs through to Nov. 13 and resumes in January. There is no charge for participation and reservations are required. It will be an eye-opening, enlightening and inspirational experience.
To make your reservation, contact Leslie Shaw at The Community Church office at 469-2320. Space is limited.
